BLESSED PIER GIORGIO FRASSATI TO BE CANONIZED A SAINT
On Saturday, April 27, 2024, in Rome, the Prefect of the Dicastery of the Causes of Saints, Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, announced that Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati will be declared a saint, upon the Holy Father’s approval, next year, 2025. Next year is a Holy Year, and also the 100th anniversary of Frassati’s death. Why is this significant? He is one of the patrons for our North Olmsted Catholic elementary school. The students know quite a bit about this “Man of the Beatitudes.” He was born in 1901 and died in 1925, in Turin, Italy. He was known for living life fully by helping others to fully live their Catholic faith. He died on July 4 which now marks his feast day. The Blessed Pier Giorgio Novena begins nine days before that date. It is a nine-day prayer based on the Beatitudes. It can be prayed at any time. Go to www.frassatiUSA.org to locate the prayers for the novena and to gain access to more information about this young person who has capture the hearts of the young people of our times.
