RCIA – Adult Sacraments

Adults interested in the Catholic faith or those who have been baptized, but not received Eucharist or Confirmation are encouraged to participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA).

Paragraph 473 of the RCIA says “no greater burden than necessary is required for the establishment of communion and unity” (with those who were baptized in a separated ecclesial communion– Lutheran, Methodist, Episcopalian, etc.).  Therefore, those who are already baptized may receive sacraments when they have been “doctrinally and spiritually prepared according to their own individual pastoral requirements”, Paragraph 477.

The Easter Vigil is reserved for those who need all 3 Sacraments of Initiation; Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
